University of California, Berkeley MSW Master of Social Welfare, University of California, Berkeley, Psychology (1974)

I was born in San Francisco, attended parochial schools, San Francisco State University, attended UC Berkeley for my Masters in Social Welfare, 1974.  I was raised primarily by a divorced, single, struggling mother whose first language was Spanish and who was an immigrant from El Salvador.  For the next 40 years I fought for social justice whenever and wherever the opportunity presented itself.  I arrived in Sacramento in 1979 to work for the state for the next 26 years.  I retired early from state government to dedicate my life to my passions, Social Justice, politics, and community service.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe everyone should participate and have a voice in their government and that government should be responsive to the voice of the people.  We should elect officials who don't forget where they came from and remember who send them there (to their political office).
