My Top 3 Priorities

  • Begin the process of planning the worlds best transit system.
  • Bring a BART station within walking distance of most of the Bay Area residents.
  • Make BART fares cover the cost of its operations and maintenance.

Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund and California Counts, a public media collaboration. (2)

Do you have a strategy to encourage bicyclists to use BART? If so, please describe in detail.
Answer from Will Roscoe:

YES. I bike everywhere so this issue is important to me.

At stations ramps should be istalled to the level of the tracks.

Security cameras should be installed around all bicycle parking to deter thefts.

The straps (being prototyped now) to hold hold bikes upright should put on all cars.

Bikes should be allowed up escalators.

Bike gutters should be installed on all existing and new stair cases.

News outlets have reported that many of BART's surveillance cameras don't work. What steps will you take to ensure that video cameras are functional throughout the system? In your answer please specifically indicate when the cameras will be fully functional.
Answer from Will Roscoe:

30% of existing trains have cameras and all the stations have cameras. The new trains to be in operation by 2017-18 will all have cameras.

I don't support the action to install cameras on the old trains at a massive cost, when they are going to be scrapped only months or years after the cameras are installed.
