Shaheen Emmanuel Lakhan ("Shane") is a medical doctor and professor running for the Redlands Unified School District Board of Education in 2016. Born and raised in an underserved and impoverished area of Southern California, he is a product of the public school system who has beat the odds by earning a Master of Education (MEd), a Master of Science (MS), a Doctor of Medicine (MD), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from prestigious universities. He has received commendations by the California Governor, US Congress, and two US Presidents. As a practicing physician and educator he has become in contact with parents, student and teachers, and discussed with them the successes and future challenges of the Redlands school system. If elected, he aims to work within the board to give back to his community and empower parents, teachers, and students, the three pillars to successful education.
