Political Philosophy

I have truly loved living in and being an active participant in Upland for 30 years. This community has afforded my family the opportunity to nurture deep roots and lifelong friendships.

Upland currently faces a number of serious challenges. These can and will be overcome with stable cohesive leadership and smart management. We will not always agree, but the focus must always be about the big picture – our city.

Our issues are deep and complex. Central is how we manage funds to ensure that Upland is safe, our residents are protected, our streets and sidewalks are maintained, our trees are cared for and our vital city services are adequately funded.

We have cut far too much from our budget. For Upland to thrive again, we need to be more creative, more flexible and more entrepreneurial in generating new revenue sources. Our quality of life is dependent on collaborative, city-focused leadership that embraces open dialogue with staff, businesses and residents in making hard decisions.

I am firmly opposed to Measure U. This is bad policy for Upland and has no place in our city.

My pledge is to bring an open-minded, rational and collegial approach to our City Council for the overall good of Upland.
