Biography

I’m an educator with over a decade of professional experience in higher education and the belief that City College can help every student achieve academic success, career development, and lifelong learning.

I understand the struggles of our most vulnerable students. I immigrated from Spain at 12 years old without speaking English and struggled to graduate from high school and make ends meet to put myself through community college and a four-year university.

I know the power of education. I’m a first-generation college graduate who went on to earn a Ph.D., become a decorated U.S. Army Officer, an educator, a senior administrator of one of the most diverse universities in the country, and a City Commissioner.
