  • Safe and secure sites - Using Raptor system (Meghan's Law) and perimeter fencing

Biography

Professional
Keri Kropke has served as an elementary public-school educator for 15+ years In Norwalk La Mirada Unified.  She became an early education advocate, working on promoting early language opportunities for John Dolland Elementary families through leafletting, door knocking, and back to school information sessions.  During summer sessions, Keri worked in kindergarten classes to develop and implement language acquisition programs to prepare children for first grade. 

As an elementary educator, Keri served as a history chair, worked on adoption committees, and  became a lead history instructor having attained a Master’s in History at Cal State Fullerton. As a Response To Interventionist (RTI), Keri worked on special education committees to adopt language programs and advocated for families with Individual Education Plans to ensure students received their fair share of services.  As a GATE coordinator, she helped identify GATE students and developed differentiated instruction for gifted students. She also advocated for different GATE identification methods beyond standardized testing. 

Keri served as a mentor educator through Teacher TRAC working with Cerritos Junior College and Biola University, mentoring and preparing students to attain their California Clear Teaching Credential. During this time, she completed a post baccalaureate in Communication Disorders at Chapman University and was accepted to Cal State Fullerton Communication Sciences Department becoming a Speech Language Pathologist. As a graduate student, she mentored undergraduate Titans to pursue degrees in teaching and speech and language. 

Keri has also actively participated in PTA/PTO committees, enrolling parents, fundraising, and event planning.  In addition, she formed city partnerships to promote student art in the city of Norwalk. She was active in “Teachers That Care” fundraising for students and their families with financial difficulty during the economic depression in 2008. She also coordinated and promoted health outreach for both certificated and classified personnel. 

In 2018, Keri was hired as a speech language pathologist for San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools teaching speech and language to children with autism spectrum, Cerebral Palsy, and Emotional Disturbance.  As an IEP team member, she works with teachers, behaviorists, physical and occupation therapists to safeguard and improve student’s individual education plans. 

Personal
Keri is a single parent of an adopted child who attends Olinda Elementary and has lived in the city of Brea for 15+ years with her family.  Her nieces and nephews attend Olinda and Brea Junior High. She is a passionate soccer mom.

Political Philosophy

Public education is the backbone of our society. It is the first place that every child can experience equality and is the greatest democratizing force in America. I am a public school advocate and have worked in public education for 17 years. I have the critical education experience to move Brea's schools forward that our students, familes, and community desire.
