Parents deserve a voice

The School Board needs representation by a parent who has children enrolled in Fullerton’s K-8 schools. Without a parent perspective, there is a gap in first hand knowledge of what is happening inside our classrooms and on our campuses. We need to bring balance and diversity of thought to the Board of the Fullerton School District.

I am a Fullerton native, with 3 children in elementary school, and our 4th child will enter kindergarten next fall.  My family is personally invested in our schools for next 15 years, and I believe we can all work together to help our schools achieve excellence.

I believe in the power of public education and received a public education here in Fullerton's local public schools, as well as in my university experience at UC Berkeley. A strong public education system is vital to the strength of our community and our citizens.

I believe that innovation and fresh perspectives on the Board are necessary to continue moving our schools forward.

We need to maintain fiscal responsibility, balance our budget, and maximize the amount of every tax dollar going directly to the classroom. We also need to mitigate declining enrollment with innovative programming, and bring class size discussions back to the table. I also support an expansion of our early education programming and believe we need to expand our communication to at-risk communities within our city to address achievement gaps before they begin.
