My Top 3 Priorities

  • High-density development: I will put an end to future high-density development. I have signed a pledge against HDD and I have taken on the biggest special interest in the city, which is the Chamber of Commerce PAC, aka the chamber of developers.
  • Homelessness: In my platform, HB2050 (brianburley.com/hb2050), I outline how we only have two officers dedicated to the homeless issue that are tasked with responding to complaints as well as getting homeless individuals into contact with nonprofits
  • Infrastructure: I am calling for an infrastructure spending increase. My platform shows how we can do this specially, and I will never raise any taxes but instead reallocate existing city resources

Biography

As a young homeowner in Huntington Beach, I want to preserve what makes Surf City great. As your Councilman, I will do this by putting an end to High-Density Development, advocating for reinvestment in our city's infrastructure, and by promoting a more secure long-term financial plan.

HB2050 is a platform I crafted that all people in our city can rally behind. I encourage concerned voters to read HB2050 to hear my specific approaches and concrete solutions on topics such as infrastructure, homelessness, unfunded pension liabilities and public safety.

I have personal, professional and political experiences that make me uniquely qualified to ensure our city reaches its full potential. My background in Information Technology is crucial in making the necessary changes in our city. Our city’s traffic technology and police software is outdated. I will stress the need to make technological advances to improve our quality of life. I have also worked closely with elected officials and served as a USC Funding Delegate, which has prepared me to safeguard valuable taxpayer funds.

My candidacy is For the People, For the City and For the Future of Huntington Beach. I graciously ask for your vote and support to become your next Councilman.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I am running for a non-partisan office and I have a platform that all Huntington Beach residents call rally behind regardless of their political affiliation.

The people of Huntington Beach need a plan that they can rally behind. A plan that can be used to hold elected officials accountable. A plan to ensure our City reaches its full potential. My platform, HB2050 is that plan.

HB2050 is the only platform that:

  • Provides a specific plan on how to pay down unfunded pension liabilities, and that includes specific long-term budgetary plans for the city.

  • Allocates resources to address our city’s homeless issue and other growing public safety issues.

  • Has a clear plan to reinvest in our city’s infrastructure.

  • Calls for Government Reforms, such as Stricter Term Limits and Mayoral Elections.

  • Replenishes our Police Department to pre-recession numbers.
