Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Protecting our environment and preparing our community for sea level rise and climate change.
  • Creating Marin-sized solutions to traffic and the home affordability crisis by collaborating with local, state and federal officials and organizations.
  • Looking out for our aging population by ensuring that they can stay in their homes and live healthy, active, and engaged lives.

Kathrin “Kate” Sears has deep roots in Southern Marin and brings diverse experience to the job of Supervisor. She was born in San Francisco and her family moved to Mill Valley in 1955 and then to Sausalito in 1965. Kate graduated from Tamalpais High School in 1969. Her parents were both environmentalists and active in the community. They instilled in Kate a sense of the importance of public service.

Kate obtained a B.A. in Asian Studies from Carleton College in 1973, a Master’s in China Regional Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1977, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1985.

After earning a law degree from Harvard Law School in 1989, Kate worked as an attorney in a major law firm, specializing in employment litigation and labor law. She went on to serve as a Supervising Deputy Attorney General in the California Attorney General’s Office.

Kate has served as Chair of the Sausalito Planning Commission, the Sausalito Public Safety Facilities Steering Committee, and the Sausalito Parking Policy Task Force. Kate is a strong and passionate environmentalist. She served on the Board of the Marin

Conservation Corps, provided pro bono legal advice to the Corps for over a decade, and currently serves on the Conservation Corps North Bay Advisory Council. She has been a member of the Sierra Club and Natural Resources Defense Council for over 20 years.

Kate was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the District Three Supervisor seat in May 2011. Kate was elected to a full term on the Marin County Board of Supervisors in June 2012.
