A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools. What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Respuesta de Kalimah Salahuddin:
Communication and outreach to our stakeholders is key to ensuring that we have a Local Control Accountability Plan that is reflective of the community and meets the needs of our students. I am very proud of the way that our district has ensured that we have a robust and active District Advisory Committee that includes parents and students. Our advisory committee receivies the necessary training and a breakdown of the supporting information to help them through the process of determining where we should focus for the year. We have a section of out website that is dedicated to the our Local Control Accountability Plan and has a listing of all the meeting dates for the year, minutes from the previous meetings and all the material that was given or presented to our District Advisory Committee. Once the Local Control Accountability Plan is completed it is published in a variety of ways, a one pager inforgraphic, a exectuive summary, a fiscal breakdown and the full plan. So that you can get a high level over view or a real deep dive depending on your comfort level with the material. These are also all posted to our website for the public.

Respuesta de Andrew Lie:
Our district annually prepares a one page summary of how those funds are spent along with the results of such spending based on the goals that we set. We take this info to the public, whether at street festivals like the Pacifica Fog Fest or to regular meetings of the various school parent teacher organizations. We also solicit public input from our community and stakeholders, including parents, teachers and students when we prepare the next year's local control accountability plan to help identify what issues and programs should be funded the next school year.

Mis 3 prioridades principales
Improve school standards. Graduation must be earned and not expected by putting in the time.
Stop wasteful spending in the district. Money is tight but too much is wasted. If technology is to be purchased there must be plans for its replacement.
Stop blaming teachers for the poor performance of the students. Administrators brag about graduation rates but never mention the graduates skills for college or work.
