Biografía

I have been the proud wife of a veteran for over twenty years and we have five grown children. We have resided in Southern California for all of those years and have been devoted members of our church.  During that time, I homeschooled our two youngest children and later become a substitute teacher for our local public school district. Prior to that, I have worked for feeral, and pritvate institutions.  Also duringthat time, I obtained a Juris Doctorate and will have completed a Master's degree in International Human Rights Law in May.

Over the last twenty years, I have traveled extensively, visting both Asia and Europe for missionalry as well as legal conferences in France, Cambodia, Ukraine.  The experience gained through that travel has strengthened and hardened my resolve to protect our nation and citizenry from the threat of globalism.

My desire is to serve the citizens of California by protecting their rights, enabling them to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (4)

What do you think the State should do to encourage affordable housing for all Californians?
Respuesta de Jessica Martinez:

There are too many regulations that stand in the path of building affordable housing. Lawsuits that are filed against contractors because of the regulations deter You so g construction as well as prohibitive zoning. Deregulation as well as encouragement for contractors in the form or tax credits should be put in place.

According to a "Civility In America” survey, 75% of Americans believe that the U.S. has a major civility problem. If you are elected what will do to address this?
Respuesta de Jessica Martinez:

Civility is something that must be taught and encouraged at home and at school but is grounded in morality. Because our society has encouraged secularism and separated itself from faith in God, our morality and civility have declined.

Faith and morality must be encouraged in our educational institutions. The opportunity for parents to have school choice can be instrumental. The media should also be encouraged to adopt public service announcements that educate the public about a culture that is civil and how to better serve one another.

Climate changes, and the shifting between very wet weather and drought, worry Californians. What strategies would allow that your district to both satisfy its water needs and protect the environment? Please be specific.
Respuesta de Jessica Martinez:

Desalination plants and storage facilities should be constructed in order to make the most use of our natural resources. California has allowed water storage systems to fliunfer and waste water during periods when rainfall has been more than sufficient causing man-made droughts.

What programs or strategies would you suggest to meet the educational needs of the youngest and most poverty stricken Californians?
Respuesta de Jessica Martinez:

School choice as well as more local control over funding should be implemented. School choice is the best solution for parents who want their children to have the best education possible. It will also inhibit costs of education to the state as a whole. If parents choose homeschooling, they should receive funding for that as well. This will also lower costs for facilities by allowing funds to be applied directly to student educational pursuits.

Filosofía política

My political philosophy is grounded on the original intent of the framers of the Declaration of Independance and the United States Constitution.  Those documents have guaranteed and protected the freedoms of our citizens for nearly 250 years by setting up a government and legal system that is not easily toppled by the blowing winds of persuasive politicians that would tyrannize our citizens.

Our nation was meant to enable citizens to pursue their dreams, whether it was through education or entrepreneurship.  In order to be effective, individuals should be hindered as little as possible through taxation and regulation, freeing them to employ and expand, bringing greater wealth and growing the middle class.  Without a thrving middle class, more people fall into poverty and become slaves to a state run bureacracy.

The people of our state and country should be allowed their liberty so long as it does not infring upon the rights of others.  Currently, our rights as citizens are under attack from a liberal and misguided legislature that is taking a larger and larger portion of the income of its citizens to give to those who are not citizens and who are an economic liability.

First and foremost, our nation was created to protect its citizens' rights which includes the right to bear arms, the right of the exercise of their religion and the exercise of free speech.  In an atmosphere of political correctiness, the mouths of those who can speak plainly about protecting the morality of our youth is in jeopardy. Our historical monuments are being torn down in an atmosphere of intolerance towards the original spiritual foundations that allowed our nation to be birthed.  The deconstruction of our civil and spiritual foundations must be protected from those who seek by onerous regulation and tyrannical laws to supplant a history and culture of people that came together because of the principles that it represents.  Americans come from many different ethnicities and the only thing that truly binds us together is the respect for our founding documents.  We are at a crucial time in our history, more so than at any other time and it is imperative, that if our nation's citizens wish to remain free, that we protect the freedoms and rights from assault.
