Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Increase Funding Sources & Improve Accountability - Diane’s background in budgeting and finance will help find solutions to ever increasing pension reserves and other funding challenges
  • Support our Teachers and Students - Diane will help insure our teachers receive fair pay and benefits so they can focus their attention on our kids’ education will result in better outcomes for our students.
  • Increase in Public Outreach & Communication - Diane believes in transparency and will invite input from the public, outside of general NUSD meetings, to seek input and ideas from the community to improve our schools

Diane holds a Bachelor of Science in business management, as well as a certificate in accounting. She previously worked in operational and financial management, non-profit bookkeepingand office management services.

She is an avid volunteer and qualified for the County’s “Community Volunteer” ballot designation.  This designation is for individuals who have contributed substantial hours in non-profit work.  She volunteers in the district’s school classrooms and gardens and was the co-chair for the NUSD Measure A (parcel tax) campaign and currently sits on its oversight committee.

Diane is a Girl Scout troop leader (4th and 6th grades) and earned her Marin Master Gardeners certificate in 2016.  In her spare time, she helps coordinate the annual North Bay Science Discovery Day.  Diane, her husband (Jon) and two girls (Olivia, 11 and Alena, 9) also enjoy being a Marin Humane foster family.

Diane and her family raise chickens, and have had honey bee hives, on their Indian Valley property.  The family loves the semi-rural community and being able to venture out into the nearby open space with their 13-year old hound, Murphy.   In addition to the chickens, dog and occasional foster puppies or kittens, the Gassons also have Peanut the guinea pig and Sterling the hamster.

“I love being a part of such a vibrant community and great school district.  I look forward to being a part of the team working to improve NUSD’s financial situation with the goal of becoming an advocate, at the state level, for increased funding statewide.  My passion is using my skills and knowledge to support our kids so they can grow and thrive in a safe, supportive and nurturing community.”

Diane likes to spend her free time baking, sewing, knitting and gardening.  She has fun working on craft projects with her girls, and Girl Scouts, and has enjoyed participating in the Kindness Rock Project and I Found a Quilted Heart program.  She aspires to have two Little Free Libraries on her property this coming Spring.
