Elizabeth’s life has been dedicated to public service.  She currently serves as Director of the state’s independent Public Advocates Office fighting to protect the health, safety and financial well-being of Californians. Elizabeth previously served on President Obama’s Transition Team and later as head of the Small Business Administration for the Pacific Region where she focused on increasing opportunities for youth, women, and people of color to start their own businesses. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Elizabeth was the Director of the U.S. Green Building Council, Northern California Chapter where she worked with labor, environmentalists, industry, and state leaders to pass legislation that would protect our environment and create green jobs.


Locally, Elizabeth serves as a Board Member for the East Bay Regional Park District representing the communities of Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, El Sobrante, Kensington, part of Pinole, Richmond and San Pablo. She was elected to the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee in 2006 and has served as a delegate to the Democratic State Central Committee each year since. She also is the Chair of the City of Berkeley Children, Youth, and Recreation Commission.
