Brief Bio

A brief bio about Jeff.

I am a lifelong resident of Salinas, with deep roots in the Salinas public school system. My grandparents, parents and myself all graduated from Salinas High School. For the past three years, I have been coaching Salinas High Lacrosse and Toro Bulls football, as well as working for a local agricultural leader.

Along with my wife, Ariel, and three children (Mack, Grant and Eowyn), I live in the LORNA neighborhood of South Salinas. Now that my young children are working their way through our public school system, and following in the footsteps of the many Salinas High graduates before them, I feel it is my responsibility to get more involved.

Jeff's Top Priorities

1. Educational and Athletic Excellence. Recently, because of increased parent and community involvement, our local high schools have seen unprecedented success. I will work tirelessly to make sure that our teachers, coaches and support staff have the resources needed to expand on this success and to make our high school system a model for not only California, but for the nation.

2. Fiscal Responsibility. Our high school district needs to be more accountable to our community and our taxpayers, just as our students are accountable in the classroom and on the playing field. We need to find ways to do things more efficiently, and spend any savings where it will help our children the most: in our CLASSROOMS.

Our current high school board is DIRECTLY responsible for the delays and cost overruns with our new high school in North Salinas because of their ties to political interests.

Let's expand partnerships with the business leaders in our community, preparing our children for the real world.

Were you aware that as a taxpayer, your tax dollars are used to pay for the candidate statement of EVERY candidate running for the Salinas Union High School Board? I attempted to pay for my own statement, because I did not want to use taxpayer funds for this. I was told that this was not allowed. WHY ARE OUR TAX DOLLARS THAT SHOULD BE GOING TO OUR STUDENTS BEING SPENT ON CAREER POLITICIANS?

3. Student Safety and School Security. On top of quality education, I want our children to attend secure schools, in a safe environment that will develop them from curious youth to tomorrow's leaders, who love this community as much as we I do.

Join me on November 6th and together we'll start "Building Tomorrow's leaders Today!"
