Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Derogar el programa de salud de Obama y reemplazarlo con una ley para el cuidado de la salud que ponga a los pacientes y a los médicos en primer lugar, no a las aseguradoras.
  • Defensa y seguridad nacional fuertes.

Dr. Veltmeyer is an Ecuadorian born, legal United States Citizen, and exemplifies the American Dream.  Like many Latinos, Dr. Veltmeyer immigrated to the United States through hardship which strengthened his determination to achieve greatness.  He has come from humble beginnings, living homeless on the streets of South America, and has a powerful story of success and appreciation of America.

He is currently the Chief of Family Medicine at one of the largest hospitals in San Diego.  As a Doctor he cares for the community on a daily basis and he would like to do the same for the constituents of San Diego and America in Washington DC.  It is time for a new generation for the American dream and determined leadership - only a Doctor can help remedy San Diego and America.

Should immigration laws be changed?  What changes would you support?  Please explain why.
Respuesta de James Veltmeyer:

As a sovereign nation with national security and economic requirements, the United States must determine who can enter.  Those who enter the country must have permission, whether immigrants or visitors.  The federal government has been too lax in allowing entry without permission or permitting people to overstay their visa terms.  This has to be fixed.

It is critical for the federal government to increase border security. Maintaining the physical security of our nation is a central responsibility of the national government, and that will mean increased manpower and increase physical barriers along critical portions of both our northern and southern borders.

Immigration to America is a privilege, not a right.  The United States needs to overhaul the immigration laws to insure that new immigrants will benefit the country through their skills, knowledge, and desire to assimilate.   Sponsors must be legally required to support their immigrants until they are self-sufficient.

Partisan Political Climate

The political climate in Washington, D.C. has been extremely partisan in recent years. In that kind of atmosphere, what would you do to get things done while in office?

What, if anything, does the U.S. need to do in order to address national security and terrorism? Please explain your answer in detail.
Respuesta de James Veltmeyer:

The U.S. needs to focus on suppressing the expansion of the Islamic State and al-Qaida wherever they exist, either in concert with allied regimes or unilaterally.  This should be done as surgically as possible to limit collateral damage.  The U.S. should have the smallest footprint in the region that allows the mission to be accomplished.  NATO ally Turkey should be encouraged to play a larger role in regional affairs.

Above all, the U.S. needs to consider its national interest first, which is to take whatever action is necessary to bring an end to radical Islamic terrorism which exasperates already difficult regional political transition.

The Iranian government must be held accountable for any effort to build nuclear weapons.   Violations must have serious consequences.

The Federal Government plays a part in California water allocation and use through a variety of laws.  What, if any, legislation would you support in an effort to handle water shortages caused by the current and any future drought?

Filosofía política

Dr. James Veltmeyer for Congress - 53rd District
  • Defending Our Nation
To safeguard our nation's security, James feels that Congress must act decisively to ensure that U.S. armed forces be modernized to meet our commitments and threats we face. Critical modernization actions needed are the expansion of our naval forces, upgrades to long-range bombers and fighter jet capabilities and increased funding for conventional forces to ensure that we retain our most experienced and accomplished personnel.

  • Repeal Affordable Care Act
As a doctor, James knows the endless regulations that the Affordable Care Act forces upon doctors.  The Affordable Care Act, has been disruptive, expensive and confusing.  The scheme is troubling becuase it is shifting health care decision-making to bureaucrats.  Dr. Veltmeyer values the relationship with his patients, and as a Congressman, he will work to restore the strength of that bond.  It is time to keep the confidential medical decision-making relationship between the doctor and patient.

  • No New Taxes
Small business owners cite taxes and excessive government regulations as the impediments to growth of their companies.  Congress should ease the burden on those businesses and thereby encourage growth and more employment.  James Veltmeyer supports the No New Taxes pledge and as our Congressman, he will fight to roll-back unnecessary regulations.  Ensuring a vibrant economy is the surest path back to full employment.
